Another design from the legendary John Moses Browning, the Model 1897 was developed during his time at the Winchester Repeating Arms Company as an evolution of the Model 1893. This version of the M1897 was nicknamed the ?Trench Gun? by US troops during their deployment in World War 1, with a shortened barrel, a perforated steel heat shield to avoid burning their hands, a bayonet lug mounting point for the M1917 bayonet and sling mounting points for shotgun slings, the six shot shotgun was an iconic weapon, able to out-perform other shotguns during the war thanks to the tubular magazine design, and the ability to slam fire the weapon, an action where the shooter holds down the trigger, and only need to pump the shotgun to immediately chamber and fire a new round, bringing an edge over other shotguns during its service. The shotgun saw widespread use by American troops during WW1 that the German government issued a diplomatic protest against the use of shotgun, issuing the ironic statement of the American shotgun was deemed to cause unnecessary suffering to their troops.
The 2nd iteration of the Tanaka Works replica now features the same operation and functionality as the Trench Gun, now with the ability to Slam-Fire the shotgun, holding the trigger down whilst continually pumping the shotgun to rapidly sending its 6 rounds capacity down range, satisfying your rapid pump action with high-quality heavy-weight finish. Tanaka replicates the shotgun design aesthetics using zinc die-cast, with real wood stock and foregrips, satiating the needs of those that need to run into the trenches with this terrifying weapon.
