What’s up guys, for those older Novritsch fans, you would know that
Christoph Neuwirth better known as Novrisch is not just some Austrian
airsoft sniper, he actually also served in the Austrian military and had
sniper training during his time with the Austrian military. During his
time serving in the military, the standard issue service rifle of
Austria is the STG77. Being so fond of his time in the military and the
rifle he served with, it is only natural that Novrisch wanted to make an
airsoft version of the legendary Austrian bullpup rifle and to make it better. And of course,
the results will have to be modernized and up to Novritsch’s standards.
As
this is a Novritsch-made electric airsoft rifle, its only fair to get
right into the technical bits of the Novritsch SSR77. first of all the
SSR7 has an ETU and a progressive trigger, with a programmable ETU in
the SSR77 you have freedom of fire mode selection. We’ve also made the
progressive trigger pull smoother and more reactive. And for those who
are afraid of shooting full auto by accident, you can disable it, here
is Josef explaining how it works:
Speaking
of the ETU, this also means that the SSR77 has precocking. Honestly,
for an airsoft gun running on the aging Version 3 AUG system, this is
not common at all. Another helpful video by Josef from team Novritsch:
Moving
on from the ETU and trigger, let’s talk about what makes it accurate.
The hop-up chamber of the SSR77 is of CNC construction and features a
red anodized finish and markings for the direction of adjustment. Inside
the Hop-Up chamber is a 60-degree flat hop infinite bucking and a
straight-down moving tensioner (TDC), ensuring consistent BB placement.
The CNC feeding tube is quite a big deal too (Christoph says so). And if
your bucking ever wears down. you can just turn it since it doesn’t
have any nubs that could get misaligned and curve your BBs to the side.
The inner barrel of the SSR77 is a 6.03mm diameter precision tight bore
inner barrel that goes all the way from the hop-up chamber to the muzzle
with a total length of 475mm. This offers great air efficiency and
shooting results. The long window cut allows for the large contact
surface of the bucking to easily lift 0.32 gram BBs at about 1.5 Joules.
Now
on to the gearbox. The cylinder assembly includes durable CNC parts:
aluminum piston head, nozzle, and cylinder head, along with steel
cylinder and full-length steel piston teeth. A special channeled rubber
padding ensures great air seal and airflow. It also features strong 16:1 CNC steel gears instead of your average 18:1 sintered gears. the tappet plate with improved timing is optimized for reliable
feeding and great air-seal. Powering this gearbox is a 24k neodymium
magnet hi-torque motor giving this airsoft rifle a fast trigger response
and a high rate of fire, you can expect around 23 rounds per second
while pairing with an 11.1v Lipo battery which this system is designed
for. The SSR 77 also features a quick spring exchange system, all you
have to do is take off the butt pad, unscrew the center screw, turn the
spring guide and that’s it, you can change the spring with a different
one for your desired power.
Externally, the SSR77 A2 has a solid
fiber-reinforced nylon body to hold all the internals, with the only
exposed metal parts being the barrel, rails and handguard, similar to the real
steel STG77. Speaking of the barrel, you can also make the SSR77 shorter
than its original length as the outer barrel of the SSR77 is 2 pieced,
with both the tip and the middle portion also featuring 14mm CCW
threads, it is not just possible to make your rifle shorter but also
being able to slap on different muzzle devices such as tracers and
suppressors in both configurations, do note that because the inner
barrel length reaches all the way to the muzzle, you will need to get a
shorter AEG barrel if you do decide to shorten your rifle.
Since the SSR77 A2 is a modern take on the AUG platform envisioned by Novritsch, it features a unique M-LOK handguard that is ergonomic and has a slim profile, allowing for more modern handling such as “C Clamping”, something you wouldn’t be able to preform with the SSR77 A1. Being a modern take means having more attachments, the SSR77 A2 allows you to do so as mentioned before having an M-LOK handguard and a long top Picatinny rail allowing even the magnifier and red dot combo. The SSR77 A2 also features 5 QD points instead of having sling swivels like the ones found on the SSR77 A1, all QD points are in practical locations allowing you to quickly attach your slings in the configuration you desire, be it one point or two point.
The
SSR77 is back to the roots for Novritsch fans, envisioned when Novritsch was in the Austrian military handling the STG77, he always wanted to make it better, more modern and an airsoft version where it feels and handles more sturdier similar to the real deal, and he done it with the SSR77 A2, it is definatly a modern take, designed with modern ergonomics in mind and allowing the attachment of modern attachments with a robust fiber-reinforced
nylon green body and solid full-length metal outer barrel.
“Whether
you’re an ex-Austrian soldier or a CS player too lazy to learn the AK
pattern, you will appreciate the details put into this rifle.”
– Christoph Neuwirth
