The 92SB, initially called the 92S-1, was specifically designed for the USAF trials. The 92SB model name was officially adopted after winning. “92SB” means “Sicurezza Blocco”, meaning “safety block” in Italian. This refers to both the slide-mounted safety and the internal firing pin block. Other improvements include ambidextrous safety levers, 3-dot sights , and relocating the magazine release catch from the bottom of the grip to the lower bottom of the trigger guard. The later relocation of the magazine release button means preceding models (92 & 92S) cannot necessarily use later magazines unless they have notches in both areas.
The “92SB-F” that was used in two movies has been modeled as a firing model gun compatible with Evo.2 cartridges. The engraving is the 1984 “Made In Italy” type based on historical research. The grip is also reproduced with attention to the original design. As a special bonus only for the Hollywood version, it comes with a custom long slide stop, checkered magazine catch, and a left grip that can be assembled to reproduce the models used in the actual shooting scenes of “Die Hard” and “Lethal Weapon 2”. With the evolution to Evolution 2, we have made a major upgrade by modifying about 20 parts, including minor changes such as improved operability and design from the previous model, shock mitigation when firing, and rust prevention measures.
[Major changes from the previous model]
- Addition of a buffer part that absorbs shock.
- Anti-rust and lubricating treatment for pressed parts.
- Change in grip screw position.
- Addition of grip weight.
- Separate metal rear sight.
- Change in extractor shape.
- Heavy-weight resin is also used for the grip and barrel.
