After World War II, a new nation was formed in an area where all its
neighbors disapproved of its existence, a new weapon was needed to
protect its borders and interests. A Major by the name of Uziel Gal
designed a weapon to be more compact than its WW2 counter-parts, cheap
to produce due to its use of sheet metals and that it is more ergonomic
as reloads became more intuitive, but he had a specific request that the
gun should not be named after him. This weapon was known as the UZI.
The
UZI is a submachine gun that was made during the 1950s for Israel to
replace its stock of WW2 leftover SMGs, it uses an open bolt design yet
it is much more compact compared to the WW2 relics as it uses a
telescoping bolt and has the magazine housed in the pistol grip, making
it quite modern and ergonomic at the time, The Uzi was officially
adopted in 1951. First introduced to IDF special forces in 1954, the
weapon was placed into general issue two years later. The first Uzis
were equipped with a short, fixed wooden buttstock, and this is the
version that initially saw combat during the 1956 Suez Campaign. Later
models would be equipped with a folding metal stock.
The Northeast UZI 60 CO2 Blowback Airsoft SMG is a faithful replica of the
UZIs adopted by the Israeli Defense Force in the 60s, the “60” in
this airsoft replica’s name refers to it being a replica of the UZI from
the 1960s. Just like the Northeast MP2A1, the West German counterpart
of the UZI, this replica replicated the real UZI to a T, with most of
the gun made of steel with a parkerized finish, while the grips are of
high-quality polymers, just like the real gun with a detachable real
wood stock, also, just like the real thing. The gun has features that
are almost exactly the same as the real gun, the bolt and charging
handle will stay in place when the bolt is not charged completely, you
also cannot charge the gun when the safety is engaged or when the grip
safety is not pressed, the only thing not realistic about this replica
is that it is an airsoft gun that fired 6mm BBs.
Compared to the
Northeast STEN, it is much simpler to toggle dry fire on the UZI, as no
longer will you need to disassemble the magazine to toggle, simply just
toggle the switch on the magazine to activate dry fire or a last round
cut-off, this is great for some of us who just wanted to dry fire their
gun at home.
Marking-wise, the gun features the correct Hebrew
markings and fire control markings are marked in all Hebrew.
Unfortunately, our website does not support the Hebrew language, and the
fire control setting is the same as the MP2A1, for that please click here.
Lastly,
the gun has recoil but the impulse at least for us is not as strong as
the Umarex (VFC) H&K MP5A5 gas airsoft SMG in our humble opinion,
but the gun is quite snappy on semi and has a similar automatic rate as
the real UZI. However, it does not matter in the end because, this is
the first-ever full metal, full-size gas blowback airsoft UZI and it is
definitely going to be a great piece to own and collect.

Pro’s Tip:
- A
pro’s tip regarding the MP2A1 is that when adjusting the Hop-Up you
will have to remove the barrel from the gun, to install the barrel, make
sure that you push down this latch and screw the barrel screw all the
way in before releasing it, as without doing so, it is possible that the
barrel may not sit all the way in and cause probable feeding issues. - The
MP2A1 gas magazine can be used in the UZI 50 CO2 airsoft gun, but
overall performance will be degraded. If you want to use a gas magazine
on your UZI 50 CO2 airsoft gun without sacrificing performance, we
recommend that you replace the loading nozzle with the ? Northeast Batch
3 UZI Gas Loading Nozzle”
